Bustards Funeral Home

We were founded by William L. "Bill" Bustard and his wife Charlotte (Sandison), just 3 years
after they were married. Bill came to Casper in the 1920's as a youngster. He was born in
Lincoln, Nebraska, and moved with his family, coming to Casper from California. As a very
young child he had lived on a homestead in Converse County. As a young man he was very
active in all aspects of life in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School. He
worked for Owen Muck at the Muck Funeral Home where he started by mowing their lawns.
Gradually Bill became involved in the business, and found his true vocation of caring for and
helping others. Bill was the last funeral director in the state of Wyoming who received his
(embalmers) license without going to school. He was appointed County Coroner when Mr.
Muck died suddenly. He also worked at the Conroy Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming.
In 1937 he built the funeral home, which now stands at 600 C Y Avenue.

Bill and Charlotte's son, Thomas F. "Tom" Bustard joined the firm in 1962, after working
with his father while growing up. When his father accepted the position of Executive Secretary
of National Selected Morticians (now Selected Independent Funeral Homes) in 1965 he took
over the day-to-day running of the business. Tom also became County Coroner, and
continued the caring traditions his father had started until his death in 1999.

Tom's son, William Thomas "Bill" Bustard, joined the firm in 1986, working with his father, and
in 1998 they built Bustard's Cremation Services. Bill continued Bustard's tradition of excellence
until his death April 3,2007.

Another third generation Bustard, Bill's sister Kathy Bowman, has assumed the position of
manager of the firm, and Jean Bustard will continue on as President. After 70 years, the
practice of compassionate and personal attention that has always been the hallmark of
Bustard's Funeral Home remains.

We at Bustard's Funeral Home and Cremation Services, are proud of the tradition of caring
and personal service which we have carried from generation to generation, a tradition we
learned from our founder. In this manner we hope to carry on into the future caring for your
needs.
